Christmas in the Stadium

CHRISTMAS – that time of year when we want to experience joy and share it with others!

Christmas in the Stadium was last held on 5th December 2020. Due to the impact of Covid-19 restrictions, the event is currently on hold.

Forsyth Barr Stadium is a covered venue. This means that the event can be attended and enjoyed regardless of the weather!

Christmas in the Stadium adds to the traditionally, wonderful and joyful Dunedin Christmas spirit by providing a community event suitable for all, where everyone can experience positive community interaction.

Entry is by gold coin donation and the event generally includes:Bells

  • Entertainment, featuring a cross section of local talent – choirs, bands, performing groups
  • Free activities for children – face-painting, inflatables
  • Food vendors on site (although guests can bring a picnic – no alcohol, though)
  • And there will be some food offered free of charge

Community groups and individuals are offered the opportunity to contribute an activity!

As always, funding for this kind of event is provided through the kindness of others, from both businesses and individuals, in the form of grants, donations and the help of Dunedin’s many willing volunteers. AOK invites all such to contribute to the event, through our Donation page. Feel free to contact us if you would like to discuss this with us directly.

We anticipate that Christmas in the Stadium will help build a greater sense of community through the collective effort of giving and encouraging community pride, and is an iconic Christmas event that can be enjoyed by all living in Dunedin and its surrounding areas.

  1. My husband and I volunteered to run the Bouncy Castles at the Christmas in the Stadium which was just an outstanding event. We had a great time interacting with the kids, and the feedback from the other volunteers that were in our area was very positive. We all had a really fun time. I encourage anyone who might be thinking of volunteering for next year’s event to just do it. The rewards of being involved in such a wonderful community event are priceless. Loved it!
