We welcome anyone who is alone or unable to provide a festive meal for themselves to join us.

The dinner is prepared by volunteers, without whose help it could not happen. These people give of their free time to bring cheer to others on this special day. It is also a time of getting to know others in the community, and have lots of fun while doing it!

Provision for this event relies on the generosity of others. We would like to express our gratitude to the people, groups and companies who have donated time, finance and other resources to make this wonderful event happen. You can find a list of some of these on Our Sponsors page.

  1. It is truly lovely to have the Acts of Kindness Christmas lunch back in the Town Hall in 2022, after a 2-year break as a result of Covid.

Look forward to seeing all the lovely friends we have made at the annual lunch over the years.

  2. My wife and I landed in New Zealand on Christmas Day 2018 to start our honeymoon. We were hanging out in the center of town when a kind woman invited us and some other travellers to join in the meal. We were in total awe. The town hall is amazing, the food was fantastic, we had such a fun time singing carols, the raffle, and meeting so many kind people from Dunedin and beyond. I don’t think I can give you all enough praise for how welcomed, loved, and special we felt this event was for us. We will be donating to support this great event this year. A big thank you and Merry Christmas from San Francisco!

  3. its good time coming together as a community, to share a meal and celebrate the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ.Great Job.
